    Descrição

    The Housing Rights Center (“HRC”) is seeking a Case Manager to work with the Los Angeles County Rent Escrow Account Program (“REAP”) to serve residents living in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. HRC’s mission is to actively support and promote fair housing through education and advocacy, to the end that all persons have the opportunity to secure the housing they desire and can afford, without discrimination based on their race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, familial status, disability, ancestry, age, source of income, or other characteristics protected by law.

    REAP is administered by LA County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) as the enforcement tool to impose fees for non-compliant landlords and rent reductions for affected tenants of rental housing properties or/and units within unincorporated areas of LA County. HRC will provide outreach and case management services to tenants residing in designated REAP properties. The Case Manager’s main duties are to assist tenants with navigating through the entire REAP process and provide support or resources services. Additional duties may include accompanied visits to REAP participant’s units and REAP event participation throughout LA County. This is a full-time temporary position that may transition to permanent full-time.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Interview tenants and educate them with information on the REAP process;
      • Provide status updates to tenants residing in designated REAP properties;
      • Assist tenants with finding supportive and healthy housing services;
      • Conduct informational workshops virtually or in-person throughout LA County;
      • Communicate with landlords or management companies regarding REAP, when needed;
    • Participate in clinics and other community outreach projects;
    • Timely complete data-entry necessary for reporting and time-keeping purposes; and
      • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Experience in interviewing and assisting low-income communities;
      • Strong customer service skills and experience along with strong writing skills;
      • Knowledge of landlord/tenant laws preferred but HRC can provide training;
      • Good problem-solving skills, reliable, punctual, organized and detail-oriented;
      • Computer literate, especially use of Microsoft Office;
      • Ability to be flexible in job duties;
      • Bi- or multi- language ability preferred, but not required;
      • Experience in providing trauma-informed assistance preferred;
    • Ability to work a hybrid work schedule and ability to travel to provide services;

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    Salary range starting at $54,000 to $60,000, depending on experience. HRC offers an excellent benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance. A 403(b) retirement plan with employer contribution is available after one year of employment. A generous paid holiday, vacation, and sick leave package is also provided.
