Senior Associate of Advocacy and Administration  

Team: Advocacy

Reports To: Vice President of Advocacy

Employment Status: Full Time/Non-Exempt

Salary: $59,325.00/ year


Location: This position is based in our headquarters in New York City, with occasional travel to our regional offices across New York State. This position is mostly on-site, with a requirement of being in the office 4 days per week and remote 1 day per week.

Position Overview 

The Senior Associate of Advocacy and Administration will work within the Advocacy Department to support its community outreach, event planning, and supporting the administrative needs of the department. The ideal candidate must have an interest in immigrant rights and advocacy; and will have experience with some combination of the following: events support, office administration, data input and management. 

The Senior Associate will work closely with the Advocacy Department to manage the department’s overall goals,  which include supporting advocacy efforts through logistics support and planning, supporting campaigns and  initiatives, and tracking legislative outreach. 


Key Responsibilities, but not limited to: 

  • Assist with the execution of organizational NYIC projects as needed, attend all major NYIC events, and participate in the planning and execution of organizational events and committees.
  • Support the development of internal management tools and manage the inventory of physical and digital tools.
  • Assist with logistics, planning and preparation for advocacy related actions, events, projects, and campaigns. 
  • Provide administrative support in various coalitions and the leadership council, under the direction of the Vice President of Advocacy. 
  • Assist with additional duties as necessary.
  • Occasionally, carries and moves materials weighing 50 lbs or less.


Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Advocacy and in office administration is a must, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading and completing projects.
  • Working knowledge of G-Suite, Asana, Salesforce, Eventbrite and ability to teach and learn new systems.
  • Detailed oriented, with excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish or French is a plus.
  • Driver’s license is preferred 
  • Some evenings and weekends work expected (compensated accordingly)


Salary: $59, 325.00**
