    Position: Bilingual Field Organizer

    Department: Midwest Program

    Position Type: Contract, Part-Time

    Location: Chicago, primarily on the West Side

    Reports to: Midwest Organizing Manager, Midwest Director

    Salary Range: $25/hour and reasonable expenses

    Schedule: 20 hours per week. Work schedule will be set by mutual agreement between the Contractor and Midwest Director. Must be available most weekday afternoons 2-4 pm.

    The contract runs from November 2025 - February 2026 with some flexibility.

    What You’ll Do ─ Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • The Bilingual Field Organizer will serve as an essential point of contact with manufacturing workers on the West Side of Chicago. The organizer’s main responsibility will be collecting survey responses from workers. The organizer will be expected to use a variety of tactics to collect survey responses included but not limited to: direct engagement with workers outside of the worksite, house visits to workers’ homes, phone calls and texts to workers, and other creative forms of outreach.
    • Work schedule will be set by mutual agreement in the scope of work between the Contractor and Midwest Director based on maximizing worker contacts. Must be available most weekday afternoons 2-4p.

    About you ─ Required Qualifications:

    • Fluent English and Spanish language skills required, including ability to read, write, and engage in conversation in both languages
    • Experience as an organizer or canvasser for issue-based or electoral campaigns; specific experience in worker organizing is a plus
    • Desire to build worker and community power in Chicago
    • Ability to thoughtfully engage workers around working conditions and move them to take action
    • Tenacity in the face of challenges and creativity to overcome them to meet goals
    • Basic technology skills to track progress and communicate results
    • Familiarity with impacts of racialized, gendered, and economic inequities on the working and living conditions of historically marginalized and disinvested communities

    Other Physical Requirements:

    • Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle for daily use
    • Ability to stand outside worksites and walk door-to-door for extended periods of time
    • The majority of work will be performed outdoors. Winter readiness required.
    • Access to a computer, wifi, and telephone for work tracking and communication
    • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone with reasonable accommodations
