    Descrição

    Come Work with Us at the Center for Oil and Gas Organizing!

    From natural (methane) gas wells and interstate gas pipelines to compressor stations, data centers and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) export facilities, communities across the United States (U.S.) are living with the harshest costs of energy injustice, including skyrocketing utility costs, dangerous levels of pollution, and decisions being made without their input. The Center for Oil and Gas Organizing (COGO) is a national organization working to change this by building power and influence in communities harmed by fossil fuel infrastructure.

    COGO is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace and considers qualified applicants for employment without regard to age, sex, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity, military/veteran status, or any other basis prohibited by applicable law.

    The Role: Organizer

    Our small but mighty team supports grassroots partners across the U.S. as they fight back against LNG and gas pipeline expansion. We do this through strategic coordination, frontline-centered federal advocacy, narrative development, coalition building, and regranting.

    We also support our partners in educating the public, reclaiming the narrative, mobilizing around key permitting decisions, and building pressure from local governments to federal agencies to demand accountability and justice.

    We are looking for an experienced Organizer to join us as we sustain our ongoing work, expand upon existing successful efforts, and seed new campaigns that build frontline power.

    This is a remote role that requires occasional travel within the U.S.

    What You’ll Do

    • Execute COGO’s digital organizing and storytelling strategies — implementing initiatives across web, email, text, phone, and social media (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube) to turn online engagement into real-world impact;
    • Produce and elevate multimedia content to strengthen COGO’s digital presence and partner visibility across platforms;
    • Collaborate with partners, coalitions, and allies to deepen relationships, expand reach, align priorities, and build collective power through shared efforts;
    • Plan and represent COGO at virtual and in-person events — from webinars and trainings to rallies and community outreach;
    • Monitor emerging policy, communications, and outreach opportunities relevant to COGO’s mission; and
    • Support organizational operations and collaboration through team meetings, cross-department coordination, and administrative logistics.

    Who You Are.

    • Deeply committed to justice, equity, and building grassroots power;
    • A creative, community-minded digital organizer who thrives at the intersection of storytelling, technology, and movement-building;
    • Someone who turns plans into action, both behind the scenes and on the ground;
    • Energized by variety — editing short-form video one day, helping run a webinar or supporting a rally the next;
    • Skilled at translating strategy into impact, connecting with people online and in person, and amplifying the voices of partners and frontline organizers;
    • Comfortable working across multiple projects and shifting priorities while maintaining focus, precision, and high-quality results;
    • A skillful, team-oriented communicator — transparent, accountable, and ready to navigate high-intensity situations and fast-paced decisions with courage and care; and
    • Open-minded and adaptable, bringing humility, warmth, and a willingness to learn and grow.

    Required Qualifications.

    • Five or more years advancing strategies that deliver real-world outcomes on climate, environmental justice, or civic engagement;
    • Understanding of how power and privilege shape coalitions, meetings, and decision-making;
    • Ability to collaboratively design and implement advocacy strategies that build impact and momentum;
    • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and stakeholder-engagement skills;
    • Proficiency with digital organizing tools (EveryAction, Action Network, Mobilize) and creative platforms (Canva, Google Workspace);
    • Experience managing social media channels and creating multi-media content;
    • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across digital and print formats; and
    • Experience supporting virtual and in-person events, including logistics, outreach, and promotion.

    “Nice to Have” Qualifications.

    • Direct or lived experience in frontline fossil fuel communities — including unpaid or grassroots involvement;
    • Experience creating short-form video content for campaigns or storytelling projects; and
    • Familiarity with coalition or movement ecosystems, particularly in frontline or community-based contexts.
