    POSITION: Temporary Resource Navigation Support

    CLASSIFICATION: Part time – Cannot exceed 20 hours, non-exempt

    REPORTS TO: Director of Programs

    COMPENSATION: $28/hr

    POSITION START: ASAP

    WORK SCHEDULE: Part time. In-person. Tuesday-Saturday.

    PREFERENCES: Spanish-speaking preferred

    ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION

    A Sense of Home strives to prevent homelessness by creating first-ever homes for youth aging out of foster care with donated furniture and home goods. 30% of those struggling with homelessness are former foster youth. The homeless crisis can only end through prevention.

    POSITION PURPOSE

    The Temporary Resource Navigation Support is A Sense of Home’s liaison to the ASOH Members. They help to foster a sense of community and support Members with navigating resources. In addition, they help to increase access to resources through networking and partnership building.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conducting comprehensive check ins with Members and learning their needs through conversations
    • Maintaining good interpersonal relationships with staff, Members, donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
    • Helping to build and update ASOH’s Resource Network and restock Resource Network cover sheet templates as needed
    • Working collaboratively with the Intake Coordinator to ensure recipients’ smooth transition into the Member Community with warm hand offs
    • Working collaboratively with the Housing and Resource Navigator for warm hand offs and work to maintain Member housing stability
    • Sharing resources to the Communications Team to be put into the Monthly Resource Newsletter
    • Contributing to the ASOH Resources Instagram account through sharing resources with the Communications Manager and featuring in content, in collaboration with the Director of Programs and Director of Community Impact
    • Helping to improve access to resources and partnerships through networking and relationship building
    • Documenting status updates on the ASOH app
    • Confirming and tracking PIFA attendance at Home Creations
    • Onboarding new Members and PIFA with welcome emails and supporting with Recipient closeouts
    • Maintaining the resource lounge: keeping it tidy, well stocked, and updated, including identifying new resources to include and contributing to the biweekly low inventory report
    • Monitor the members@asenseofhome.org email account and providing resource support as needed

    All employees who work in the department cover for each other during periods when an employee is out, or a position is vacant. This means you may have to occasionally take on tasks outside the normal scope of your job.

    Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, modified or changed at any time at ASOH’s discretion, to fulfill the Position Purpose. Changes may be made formally, informally either verbally or in writing.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Prior experience working with former foster youth/transition age youth (TAY) preferred
    • Ideally suited for someone has experience with case management/resource navigation
    • Related experience with problem solving, conflict resolution, verbal de-escalation, program development, team work, partnership building, event planning, social media, and working with diverse populations.
    • Proficient in Excel and Word
    • Excels in communication both in written and oral form
    • Has good time management and organization skills
    • Valid driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance as driving for work may be required

    KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENT

    • Analytical Skills - Ability to process and analyze vague, abstract verbal and written instructions. Ability to visualize and assess abstract ideas and develop structured plans for implementation of marketing plans. Ability to read, analyze complex documents, and communicate analysis in oral and written form.
    • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • Communications and Media - Requires public speaking, phone conversations, use of email, writing letters and memos, face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams and contact with others.
    • English Language - Strong knowledge in reading, writing, and speaking of the English language. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.     • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Computers and Electronics - Working knowledge of email, social media networks, computers, smartphones, equipment, graphics software and CRM system.
    • Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
    • Law and Government - Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Lifting and moving - Requires ability to lift, move, transport, and stage furniture and other home goods sometimes in excess of 25 pounds.

    WORK SETTING - Requires working in office space as well as warehouse space in cold or hot conditions as well as outdoors in hot, cold, wet, humid and/or dry conditions. Work is often performed in recipients’ homes. Also, requires ability to climb stairs or hills at times while lifting. Work is often performed in warehouse settings with tight spaces for travel/access. Requires ability to lift, reach, hold and move heavy items, at times onto and from shelving units.
