Associate Director, Institutional Partnerships

JOB OVERVIEW / WHAT A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT LOOK LIKE:

The Associate Director, Institutional Partnerships is responsible for informing and helping to execute strategy for the Institutional Partnerships (IP) team, contributing to a revenue goal of more than $12 million from foundation, corporate, and government sources. The Associate Director will support donor engagement, pipeline development, and deliverables across IP portfolios, managing up to three direct reports in addition to their own high-value portfolio of partners and prospects. 

The ideal candidate will be a strategic and creative thinker with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and desire to build and expand partnerships in support of City Harvest’s mission. 

• Manage a portfolio of high-value partners and prospects, including regular cultivation and stewardship (i.e. meetings, site visits, events). 
• Produce high-quality deliverables (i.e. proposals and reports), working with IP Director and Principal Development Officer as needed. 
• Conduct and guide research around foundation, corporate, and government funders, supporting ongoing pipeline development. 
• Provide regular support to direct reports on portfolio and partner strategy, reviewing deliverables, fundraising best practices (including data entry), professional development, etc. 
• Maintain expert knowledge of City Harvest programs, operations, and operating environment— working closely with teams across the organization and representing IP at both internal meetings and external events.
• Partner with IP Director to inform and execute team-wide initiatives—e.g., budgeting and reforecast, annual retreat.

WHAT YOUR BACKGOUND SHOULD LOOK LIKE:

• Minimum 5-7 years experience in a fundraising management role or related function; supervisory experience required
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Raiser’s Edge (or similar donor management platform)
• Successful record of donor cultivation and partnership development 
• Strong relationship-building and customer service orientation, understanding how to center partners’ perspectives
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience with grant-writing and other donor collateral
• Ability to synthesize complex and technical information into concise and impactful narrative 
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task, producing under deadlines and responding to unexpected opportunities
• Desire to work in a team-first environment   
• Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn
