About Us
Founded in 1983, the Spondylitis Association of America is the nation’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to educating, empowering, and advocating for people living with spondyloarthritis, a form of chronic, inflammatory arthritis that impacts more than 3.2 million Americans. SAA provides education, advocacy, support, and research initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and advancing treatment.
Role Overview
We’re seeking a part-time (20 hours per week through June 2026) Social Media Impact Assistant to help amplify our brand footprint, expand our reach, and engage new audiences, especially younger adults who may be undiagnosed or diagnosed with SpA but unfamiliar with SAA. An opportunity for a permanent part-time position will be reviewed in June 2026.
The Social Media Impact Assistant will be instrumental in creating, curating, and posting fresh, engaging content across SAA’s social media platforms. - Help build and nurture SAA’s online community by responding to comments, messages, and mentions with empathy and positivity.
- Work closely with the Brand Experience and Public Affairs team to support SAA’s awareness campaigns and other key initiatives around educational programs, research, and membership engagement.
- Track trends, hashtags, and platform updates to ensure SAA’s content feels fresh, relevant, and engaging with our target audiences.
- Identify opportunities for community-driven content (e.g., highlighting patient stories, amplifying user-generated content, identifying influencers and organizations for potential collaborations).
- Assist in providing insights and reports on content performance and engagement growth.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Passion for digital storytelling, social media, and community building.
- Familiarity with current and emerging social media platforms (especially Instagram, TikTok, and newer formats like Reels and Shorts, Discord, etc.).
- Strong writing skills with an authentic, empathetic, and engaging tone.
- Basic graphic design, photography, or video-editing skills (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, etc.).
- A creative thinker who can translate science-driven information into content that connects with patient audiences.
- A collaborative spirit with the ability to work independently.
- Bonus: Experience with health-related or nonprofit communications.
What We Offer
- A flexible, part-time role perfect for a college student, early-career professional, or health content creator looking with an interest in helping patients navigate chronic illness.
- Opportunity to make a meaningful impact by raising awareness of spondyloarthritis and helping people connect with resources and support.
- A creative environment where your ideas are valued and encouraged.
