Organizational Summary

The New Jersey Alliance for Immigrant Justice (NJAIJ) is a statewide coalition that fights for policies that empower and protect immigrants. We are seeking applications for a full-time Digital Organizer.

NJAIJ brings together the power and strength of our member organizations to ensure immigrant communities are leaders in campaigns that advance justice, inclusion, and belonging. Our work includes policy advocacy and movement building. This position sits within our movement building team and reports to our Manager of Member Empowerment.

This is a hybrid role. Working locations will include in-person at our Newark, New Jersey office events in Trenton or with partner organizations across the state, and occasionally hybrid remote work from home (or in the community). Ability to travel regularly within the state is expected. Responsibilities under this role will sometimes include periods of standing, walking, and light lifting (boxes with outreach materials, banners, etc) as well as periods of sitting and working in front of screens at a desk. All employees of NJAIJ are required to submit proof of vaccination for COVID-19.

Role Responsibilities

In addition to supporting the overall mission of NJAIJ, the Digital Organizer will be responsible for:

  • Crafting, managing, and executing organizational communications including
  • Managing NJAIJ’s website, social media platforms, and online presence 
  • Drafting and publishing NJAIJ’s newsletters, e-blasts, and KYR blogs
  • Curating and publishing community events emails and calendar
  • Strengthen NJAIJ’s movement-building work by
  • Creating and facilitating empowerment trainings and Know Your Rights workshops
  • Building NJAIJ’s contacts lists and moving supporters through engagement ladders
  • Recruiting and cultivating social media ambassadors who can amplify and engage in NJAIJ’s work
  • Raising the statewide and national profile of NJAIJ through
  • Analyzing the impact of NJAIJ’s presence by collecting key metrics (may include press hits, audience reach, and click rates)
  • Highlighting the work of NJAIJ members and amplifying the impact of key NJAIJ programs
  • Positioning NJAIJ as a leader in the social justice nonprofit sector and raising our organization’s visibility with new audiences (may include digital ads, promotions, and media partnerships)

Qualifications & Core Competencies

The selection process will consider a wide range of lived and earned experiences. Competitive applicants will possess a majority combination of the following:

  • Demonstrated personal ties or commitments to New Jersey immigrant communities
  • Strong commitment to racial, social, and economic justice and critical analysis of systemic racism and structural inequities in the state
  • Extreme attention to detail, precision, and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in concise, accessible language
  • Willingness to work in fast-paced environments that may require transitioning quickly between tasks
  • Sense of independence and ability to make strategic decisions, even with limited information
  • Demonstrated communications, design, web, and/or social media experience in an advocacy, organizing, or campaign setting
  • Written and spoken proficiency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Arabic, West African languages, or Asian languages is strongly preferred
  • Enthusiasm for snacks, cute pictures of animals, and building community power!

Compensation: $45,000-48,000

Full-time NJAIJ staff receive a benefits package including health care, dental, vision, life insurance, commuter benefits, and more.

NJAIJ staff receive 15 vacation days per year in their first year and 20 days per year in all subsequent years. Annual leave also includes 4 personal days, and 12 sick and health days. Staff leave also includes 14 paid holidays, and 3 heritage days for staff who observe celebrations outside those 14 days, and monthly 3-day “Wellness Weekends.”

All full-time staff are provided a work tool stipend. Staff have access to a professional development stipend after 4 months.

Interview Process

Applicants will be notified if they are invited to a first-round online or in-person interview. Following first-round interviews, applicants will be notified if they have proceeded to the next stage, during which they will be expected to complete a case exercise. Applicants will have 4 days to complete the case exercise, for which all participating applicants will be compensated $100 for their labor, regardless of final selection for this position. 


Following the completion of the case exercise, final applicants will be notified if they have been selected for the final interview, during which we will request candidates provide 3-5 contacts for professional reference.
