Shakespeare Theatre Company, in Washington DC, seeks a School Programs Manager (SPM). This position creates, manages, and teaches school programming that deepens the connection between STC and all schools throughout the DC region, currently serving over 15,000 students a year. Programs currently include student matinees, residencies, and school workshops. This position’s primary responsibilities include program management, school contracts, and relationship building with educators and students. The SPM will teach a variety of classes when the schedule allows, and also onboard and train our part-time Teaching Artists for School Programs. The SPM will collaborate with the Learning Team to build new programming, refine programming currently in place, and assist in special events. Additionally, the SPM serves as the Associate Director of Camp Shakespeare. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and an annual salary of $67,000 - $70,000.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the public school and classroom systems, enjoy working with a creative team, and will have training in theatre. A Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Theatre Management, Education or a related field is needed, or similar job experience. Ideally, three years of arts administration and/or arts education experience or three years’ experience in public or private schools, with three years as a supervisor is preferred. Skills with accounting, sales, and Outlook, Excel, and Tessitura (or similar ticketing/database programs) are a plus. This is a hybrid position with at least three days onsite required each week.
