Development and Communications Associate

Position Type: Remote with in person requirements for meetings and events

Experience Required: 2+ years

Schedule: Full-time with occasional evenings and weekends for events and meetings

Position Overview

The New Jersey Arts and Culture Renewal Fund seeks a detail-oriented proactive Development and Communications Associate to support our mission of strengthening New Jersey's arts and cultural ecosystem. This remote position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that directly impacts artists, cultural organizations, and communities across the state. This is a full-time exempt position.

Key Responsibilities

Development

• • Support fundraising initiatives and donor stewardship activities
  • Maintain donor databases and prepare reports on development activities
  • Support sponsorship outreach initiatives
  • Assist with meeting scheduling
  • Draft letters and correspondence as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Board Relations

• • Prepare materials and presentations for board meetings and board committees
  • Assist with meeting scheduling
  • Assist with board communications and correspondence
  • Maintain board meeting records

Event Production

• • Provide administrative support for events
  • Coordinate event logistics, including vendor and attendee communications
  • Support event promotional activities
  • Assist with on-site event production
  • Coordinate event follow-up surveys, communications and reporting

Communications

• • Collaborate with Development Manager on writing fundraising documents and collateral
  • Draft correspondence to support grantee, board and funder communications
  • Draft press releases, letters, and other communications materials
  • Support brand and message consistency across all communications channels
  • Support communications on behalf of Executive Director
  • Other duties as assigned

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for a self-motivated professional who thrives working independently in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for supporting arts and culture. Experience with fundraising, grant writing, or nonprofit communications is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with writing promotion materials
  • Proficiency with digital project management tools and social media platforms
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Flexibility to attend occasional evening and weekend events
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Passion for arts and culture
  • Familiarity with donor databases preferred
