Position Summary


The Programs Associate is a 1099 contractor and will work in close collaboration with the Programs team. They will be responsible for managing relationships with nonprofits to better understand their organizational needs, writing project briefs, managing projects between corporate volunteers and nonprofits, entering data in Salesforce, and providing support to the Programs team during peak work periods of the year.

  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience with nonprofits, social impact, or program/project management.
  • Location: Remote, with a preference for mutually agreed-upon and consistent hours during EST, CST, or PST time zones every week.
  • Availability: While this role is contract-based and flexible, the ideal individual will set hours available to lead calls, attend meetings and be a consistent source of support for other, full-time team members (e.g. Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10AM-2PM EST).
  • Schedule: Up to 15 hr per week within regular business hours.
  • Compensation: $55/hr (the Programs Associate is a 1099 contractor role).

Key Responsibilities

 


  • Nonprofit Project Scoping: You will reach out to and build relationships with nonprofits, hold scoping calls to assess potential fit for a Common Impact engagement, and write project briefs that summarize the nonprofits’ needs in areas like Strategy, Technology, Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, and Finance.
  •  
  • Managing cross-sector projects: Some of Common Impact’s popular service models include four-month team consulting projects and days of “flash consulting,” where corporate volunteers support nonprofits. The Programs Associate contractor will be the main point of contact for their projects. In this capacity, you will support work planning and project execution, troubleshoot when projects run into challenges, build rapport with nonprofit partners and volunteers, and capture survey data at the end of each project.

 

  • Working collaboratively with Programs Team members: The Programs Associate contractor supports the implementation of Skills-Based Volunteering (SBV) programming (i.e. using the professional skills of corporate employees to support the capacity needs of nonprofits) across a variety of corporate accounts. They should be comfortable working on teams, providing status updates to project leads, solving problems proactively, and willing to jump in on emerging needs. The ideal candidate will be skilled at managing up and across to effectively move tasks forward.

  • A proactive organizer: Whether you have managed projects in formal settings, coordinated community efforts, or spearheaded initiatives in other capacities, we value the ability to oversee tasks, engage teams, and drive results. We recognize that valuable skills can be gained through a variety of experiences.
  • A strong verbal and written communicator. The Programs Associate contractor is the main point of contact for both volunteers and nonprofits and will be the Common Impact point of contact for nonprofits and volunteers. We are looking for a person with strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable with technology. Common Impact uses a variety of platforms and apps to manage our work including Asana, Harvest, Zoom, Salesforce and Microsoft Office (for communication and document management). The ideal candidate is adaptable and eager to learn new technologies. Previous experience with project management and communication platforms is a plus, but not required.
