Action Team (TCAT) Board of Directors

Our Organization

Thurston Climate Action Team (TCAT)

is a local non-profit which works towards making carbon neutrality and climate

resilience the expected public norm.

TCAT was established in 2009 to

address climate change and its impact on the people and communities of Thurston

County. Founding members included local elected officials, business people,

educators, community activists and representatives of the key planning entities

in the County.

We facilitate projects and partnerships to achieve our

mission. Programs and projects we’ve initiated and participated in include:

policy advocacy, collaborative public planning, community education,

conferences, estimating annual greenhouse gas emissions, opinion polling,  community energy efficiency, and

participatory art.

TCAT was instrumental in

creating momentum and partnerships resulting in the creation and passage of the

Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan (TCMP).

The TCMP has been  adopted by the

three largest cities in Thurston County (Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater) as well

as by the County government. TCAT is now working toward the full implementation

of the TCMP’s actions and policies. TCAT is also helping to write and implement

the Thurston County Extreme Heat Emergency Response and Illness Prevention

Plan.

TCAT is committed to

furthering equity and inclusion at every level, aware that climate change

disproportionately affects communities of color, indigenous communities, and

those with less power over their lives and futures.
