Research!America, a nonprofit membership alliance that advocates for science, discovery, and innovation to achieve better health for all, is seeking a key staff member to lead science outreach initiatives. The Senior Manager of Science Initiatives and Outreach drives Research!America’s Civic Engagement Microgrant Program, an initiative aimed at graduate-level and early career STEMM professionals. In addition, the position provides expert support and coordination of the Science CEO group, comprised of chief executives and senior policy staff of more than 80 scientific societies and associations. The Senior Manager of Science Initiatives and Outreach may also assist with Research!America’s advocacy and programmatic priorities including representing the organization at key meetings.
The Senior Manager of Science Initiatives and Outreach will manage Research!America’s Microgrant program which provides funding to early career scientist groups to engage with public officials and other policy leaders. The responsibilities include:

The Senior Manager of Science Initiatives and Outreach will also engage in Research!America’s advocacy and programmatic priorities including representing the organization at key meetings, and identifying and proposing initiatives of interest to Research!America alliance members, particularly the academic segment of Research!America’s membership.
To qualify, a PhD in a scientific field with a demonstrated interest in the public engagement of scientists is required. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a project management, external relations and/or communication role; experience with grant management; outstanding written and verbal communication skills; and an ability to interface with scientific society leaders, early career scientists and other Research!America partners.
Research!America offers a competitive salary (salary range: $79K-85K); medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; long- and short-term disability insurance; a 403(b) retirement plan; and parking or Metro benefits. This position offers a hybrid work schedule with 2-3 days a week in in the office, with other days working remotely.
