    About Clean Air Council:

Clean Air Council is dedicated to protecting and defending everyone’s right to a healthy environment and a livable climate. The Council uses advocacy campaigns, community organizing, strategic communications, public education, and legal action to carry out this mission. Since its founding nearly 60 years ago, the Council has established itself as an organization that advocates fiercely, strategically, and pragmatically to defend our communities and stabilize our climate. Recent victories include blocking fossil fuel projects slated to emit megatons of greenhouse gases, winning system-saving funding for public transit, and setting new legal precedent to support environmental victories in court.

The Council is an equal opportunity employer and has a strongly held belief in the importance of having a diverse workforce.

    Position Description

    • Educate the public, including residents, local officials and local groups, about the health and environmental effects of existing and proposed industrial facilities
    • Teach residents how to recognize potential pollution incidents and report them to the appropriate agencies
    • Organize and support residents in speaking in public meetings and submitting public comments addressing pollution concerns from local industrial sources
    • Work with residents and coalition partners to develop a long-term positive vision for the region
    • As this is a part-time position, work hours can be flexibly arranged around other scheduling concerns, as long as the work goals are met.

    • Reliability and dedication
    • Good working knowledge of environmental issues and concerns in the local community

    • Previous experience in community outreach, community organizing, teaching, or work that requires similar skills is a plus.
    • This is an entry-level position. If you are strong in some of the ideal experience and skills listed above but not all, we still encourage you to apply. We value unique perspectives gained from different backgrounds and experiences and are dedicated to supporting our staff’s professional growth.
