    AmeriCorps Coordinator / CFL School-Based Program Coordinator - Job Description

    Position Type: Full-time non-exempt position

    Schedule: 35 hours per week

    Pay rate: $28-31/hour

    Location: Main office

    Who We Are

    CENTER FOR FAMILY LIFE (CFL), a nationally recognized social service program in Sunset Park Brooklyn, is seeking an AmeriCorps Coordinator / CFL School-Based Program Coordinator to join our school-based department. CFL has developed a thriving continuum of youth development and community-building programs at twelve neighborhood schools. These programs are hubs of enriching, supportive, and inclusive activities that bring together children, youth, and adults from our diverse community.

    The Sunset Park Community Corps AmeriCorps Program is operated under CFL. This program aims to strengthen families, support positive youth development, and build community in the Sunset Park neighborhood. We address the needs of a densely populated, low-income community with a significant immigrant population facing challenges related to language barriers, social isolation, and poverty.

    Position Summary

    The AmeriCorps Coordinator/ CFL School-Based Program Coordinator is a critical position that supports the administrative operations for our twelve school-based programs and the successful implementation of the AmeriCorps contract that allows 60+ Americorps service members to contribute to the positive educational outcomes for over 600 youth per year. This role requires strong communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills, as well as flexibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Coordinator will provide overall administrative and logistical support to the CFL school-based department and oversee AmeriCorps member onboarding, compliance, and reporting.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

    School-Based Department Program Coordination

    • Run weekly reports in funder databases
    • Coordinate CPR and First Aid training for up to 100 staff across the school-based sites
    • Coordinate ordering and delivery of supplies to school-based sites
    • Liaise with the data department and school-based department in the collection of participant surveys, consents, etc.
    • Liaise with the Human Resources department and the school-based department for staff files, training, and other required documents

    AmeriCorps Program Coordination

    Recruitment & Onboarding:

    • Coordinate outreach and recruitment of AmeriCorps members.
    • Manage application reviews, background checks, member contracts, and enrollment processes in eGrants.

    Compliance & Reporting:

    • Ensure adherence to AmeriCorps regulations, including timesheets, service hours, and performance measures.
    • Maintain accurate member records and prepare reports for grant compliance.
    • Handle shifting priorities and deadlines effectively.

    Training & Development:

    • Organize orientation sessions and ongoing training for AmeriCorps members and supervisors.
    • Attend the AmeriCorps New York Professional Development Conference located outside of NYC.

    Program Coordination:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for AmeriCorps members, host sites, the AmeriCorps Program Director, and the HR department.
    • Coordinate site visits.
    • Build strong and positive relationships with members, staff, and regulatory authorities.

    Grant Management:

    • Assist with data collection for grant reporting and audits.
    • Support the Finance team in tracking members’ service hours and documentation for AmeriCorps-related budgets.

    Data & Records Management:

    • Assist with data entry for attendance, program metrics, and reporting requirements.
    • Assist with personnel management tasks such as personnel forms and onboarding documentation.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • 1–3 years in program coordination, volunteer management, or administrative support.
    • Familiarity with AmeriCorps or nonprofit program operations is a plus.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, identifying issues, and implementing practical solutions.

    Physical & Work Conditions

    • Work primarily takes place in a community-based setting within shared spaces.
    • Most time is spent sitting at a desk using a computer, with travel to school sites on an as-needed basis.
    • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
