Communications Associate

ESSENTIAL DUTIES  

• Creating email blasts, social media posts, and other relevant content 
• Repackaging ITEP data and publications for a wide range of audiences  
• Posting content to ITEP’s websites; assisting in enhancing and maintaining ITEP.org 
• Writing and editing 
• Maintaining consistency with ITEP’s brand and voice 
• Assisting with media database research and maintenance 
• Undertaking research into policy and communications trends 
• Identifying opportunities for innovative messaging and emerging platforms 
• Helping to produce videos for social media and other channels 
• Other duties as assigned 

 EXPERIENCE  

The ideal candidate should have the following experience and qualifications: 

• 1-3 years of experience in communications, journalism, or a related field 
• Experience creating digital content for a range of audiences 
• Commitment to our mission and ability to grasp and communicate complex policy ideas and goals of our work in clear, accessible, compelling ways 
• Strong writing and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively  
• Very high level of organization and strong ability to prioritize tasks to meet multiple deadlines  
• Experience with WordPress is preferred 
• Experience with, or interest in, creating video content is preferred 
• Experience with, or knowledge of, policy and politics preferred 
• Bachelor’s degree preferred 

Compensation  

The salary hiring range for this position, depending on experience, is: $50,000-$65,000.    

Generous benefits include:  

• 100 percent of the premium for health and dental insurance for you and your family.  
• 403 (B) plan to which ITEP contributes 10% of the employee’s salary.  
• All federal holidays plus the period between Christmas and New Year’s Day.  
• Paid vacation leave with advance approval and sick time are at employee discretion.  
• After one year of employment, ITEP provides 12 weeks of paid parental leave. After five years, staff are eligible to request a six-week paid sabbatical.
