Youth Program Coordinator
The Youth Program Coordinator is a part-time position. The role and responsibilities of this position is to develop and execute SCN’s Online Homework Room (OHR), as well as to help facilitate programming in-person at the SCN Strong Group taking place in several high schools. OHR runs Monday through Thursday for two hours each afternoon. The SCN Strong Group runs on Thursday mornings. The Youth Program Coordinator is expected to support volunteers and students outside of direct program hours and to attend Strong sessions, at the request of the Youth Programming Manager and Youth Program Specialist, and Teen Talk workshops in-person.
The Youth Program Coordinator reports directly to the Youth Programming Manager.
Related Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator for onboarding all volunteer tutors into the program, including match meetings with students and helping conduct workshops throughout the semester for volunteers on techniques for tutoring English Language Learners.
- Develops necessary training materials alongside the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Elicit feedback for program improvements from client community, staff, and stakeholders.
- Conduct intake and registration meetings with students’ families to set goals and expectations of outcomes of the program.
- Prepare and manage Zoom breakout rooms, observing each of the rooms.
- Collect and review OHR volunteer responses, and follow up on any identified issues.
- Meet with volunteers at the close of each semester to provide feedback and gather information.
- Manage the relationship with students and volunteers in a trauma-informed manner.
- Ensure that the student volunteer relationship maintains the boundaries as set by SCN policies.
- Input data into Salesforce for OHR and SCN Strong as identified by the Youth Programming Manager.
- Provide the support and guidance necessary to each client and/or family.
- Provides necessary feedback and support for program volunteers.
- Support the Youth Programming Manager in Education Case Management tasks as necessary/assigned.
- Meets bi-weekly with the Youth Education Manager for one-on-one supervision.
- Hybrid work schedule - two days in-person, and two days virtual.
- Meets in-person for SCN Strong programming at the high school.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Arabic, Dari/Farsi, or Spanish speaking and comprehension is strongly preferred.
- Background in Education or Social Work is strongly preferred.
- Background in Trauma-informed care is strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to engage with the client base.
- Commitment to social justice and basic understanding of issues affecting refugees.
- Knowledge of Salesforce, Google Products, Microsoft Office preferred.
This position is 20 hours per week.
This position is non exempt from overtime.
