    Job Summary:

    The Associate Director, Philanthropy Engagement and Communications is a key team member of the Philanthropy team helping expand and deepen the impact of IIE's programs, with a specific focus on two of our key signature initiatives: the Odyssey Scholarship for Refugee and Displaced Students (IIE-Odyssey) and the Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF). IIE's Philanthropy team secures resources, elevates our visibility, and communicates the impact of our programs to supporters who are as passionate about our mission and vision as we are.

    This role will lead and implement a sustainable suite of engagement and communications strategies to deepen relationships, cultivate a pipeline of supporters, and increase donor acquisition and retention. The outcomes of this work will engage key IIE constituencies, including trustees, donors, selection committee members, and other stakeholders, by creating new avenues of engagement and enhancing existing opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy Engagement and Communications, this position will collaborate with IIE-Odyssey and IIE-SRF program teams.

    Essential Functions:

    • Oversee and manage a donor engagement and communications strategy that accomplishes deepened connectivity to IIE’s mission and expanded philanthropic support across key donor segments.
    • Develop and implement community-building engagement tools, including in-person and virtual events, panel discussions, briefings, and small group salon series.
    • Support year-round Philanthropy communications, including donor stewardship, by leading annual fund activities, year-end appeal, and crisis response updates.
    • Lead and execute engagement opportunities that increase the impact of IIE’s key signature initiatives.
    • Partner and collaborate closely with Program teams, Communications, IIE’s Leadership Team, and external vendors to maximize the impact of engagement and communications strategies.
    • Partner with Philanthropy Operations to establish quantitative and qualitative metrics to evaluate outcomes of engagement activities and inform future program design, maximizing efficiency and return on investment.
    • Guide the development of impactful content that leverages multi-channel storytelling.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of IIE’s overall fundraising strategy, including setting Philanthropy Office goals and objectives.

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications and Experience:

    Required Education and Work Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Experience managing comprehensive donor engagement and communications programs to advance an organization's mission and achieve its goals.
    • Demonstrated track record of successful event execution with both large and small gatherings.
    • Knowledge of the fundraising cycle and demonstrated understanding of the value of community engagement in the expansion of donor relationships.
    • Demonstrated ability to draft clear, compelling messages to target audiences.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and oral) and the ability to listen, garner input, and gather information across stakeholder groups.
    • A motivated, ambitious team player with exceptional organizational skills, a positive, can-do attitude, and a growth mindset.

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • 5-7 years of related experience preferred.
    • Experience working with email marketing platforms a plus.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Sharepoint, and fundraising CRMs preferred.

    Salary and Benefits:

    • Hiring Range: $85,385 - $101,244. A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational equity, and geographic region.
