Position Title: Math Specialist (Full-Time)

Position Type: Full-Time (with goal of permanence beyond SY25–26)
Overview:
Pilgrim Lutheran School, a vibrant PreK–8th grade community in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood, seeks a passionate and dedicated Math Specialist to join our team for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year. This role is central to our commitment to academic excellence, providing direct instruction in core math courses and support for mathematics across the building.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct math instruction for:
- 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th Grade Math
- 8th Grade Algebra
- Support mathematics instruction across grade levels, collaborating with teachers to strengthen math curriculum and instruction school-wide.
- Use data-driven practices to monitor student growth and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Create engaging, rigorous lessons that foster problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and student confidence.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff about progress and goals.
- Contribute positively to the life of the school community, supporting our mission of “Academic Excellence With A Heart.”
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field (required).
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Math endorsement preferred.
- Demonstrated success in teaching math at the elementary or middle school level.
- Strong understanding of math pedagogy and curriculum development.
- Collaborative, flexible, and committed to continuous professional growth.
- Alignment with the mission and values of Pilgrim Lutheran School (Lutheran background preferred, but not required).
