Virtual Volunteer Event Host (Contractor)

Role Description:

We’re hiring a part-time Virtual Volunteer Event Host to lead the majority of our live, one-hour sessions with corporate partners. These events are often the first, and sometimes only, direct experience that companies have with Lemontree, which means the way we show up in these moments truly matters.

As the host, you shape how volunteers understand our mission, how connected they feel to the impact they make, and how excited they are to work with us again. The quality of these events directly influences whether partners continue volunteering with us or choose to fund our work. In many cases, a single great volunteer experience becomes the catalyst for long-term support.

This role blends mission-centered storytelling, event facilitation, and light tech management. You’ll be helping volunteers feed families in real time while also strengthening Lemontree’s visibility, credibility, and sustainability. Your presence and energy directly contribute to our ability to grow, build lasting partnerships, and raise the resources needed to meet rising demand.

Because events are scheduled around partner availability, the role also offers flexibility, and is ideal for someone who wants meaningful, part-time work with adaptable hours.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and facilitate one-hour volunteer sessions, on average 1-3 times a week.
• Open each event with a warm, clear explanation of Lemontree’s mission, our tools, and the real impact volunteers make.
• Walk participants through the volunteer flow, offer guidance, and keep the pace engaging through playing music and answering questions.
• Create a welcoming, interactive virtual atmosphere that encourages participation.
• Confidently answer questions about how Lemontree works, our approach, and our impact.
• Review event details in advance (partner background, timing, key talking points, any special requests).
• Manage basic tech operations (Zoom hosting, screen sharing, chat moderation, smooth transitions) & any troubleshooting required during the event.

• Experienced with virtual meeting tools and able to juggle light tech tasks while keeping the group engaged. Comfortable navigating technology platforms & helping volunteers with basic troubleshooting.
• Extremely dependable, punctual, and well-prepared for each session.
• Clear, organized, and able to keep an event on track.
• Collaborative and happy to work on a team that values mission, urgency, and care.
• Excited about social impact, volunteerism, and helping people understand the realities of food insecurity.
• Energized by the idea that one hour can help feed thousands of families.

Compensation & Structure

• Part-time contractor
• ~1-3 hours per week (varies with event schedule)
• $50/hour
• Fully remote
• Minimum 6-month commitment
