Summary
Art in Tanzania supports village dispensaries and larger hospitals in providing physical therapy services to the community. We also offer sports physiotherapy services at the largest Tanzanian football clubs and Youth Academies.
Details
Art in Tanzania has been operating since 1996. Our community placements attract about 250 participants annually. Our vision is to give students hands-on experience working in developing African communities. In addition to your studies, you will have an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience of African culture and life, as well as fantastic natural scenery and wildlife.
Art in Tanzania's community physical therapy program empowers the physiotherapy services for the local communities.
At the village level, the local dispensaries allocate the ongoing needs of their patients. Clinical-based physiotherapy then takes place in larger hospitals.
We assist the physical therapy practices in the Tanzanian Youth Football Academy and the leading football clubs in the Dar es Salaam Region.
We monitor your work with a weekly plan and report system to ensure your progress in your study program.
The internship outcome is learning to apply and gain experience implementing your education in developing country conditions with limited capacity, as well as a deeper understanding of the opportunities in a fast-growing economy.
Work hours are 6-8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
The program is ongoing, so the start dates are adjustable. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests, empowering our daily work with the communities.
Daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility work.
The start and end dates are flexible, as all programs are ongoing, many having been in operation since 1996.
You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable safaris and tours.
We typically have 15-40 students from diverse parts of the world, representing over 400 universities with which we collaborate, as well as a variety of professions.
