About Global Cities, Inc.  

Global Cities, Inc., a Program of Bloomberg Philanthropies, promotes skills that today’s youth require for citizenship in tomorrow’s world. Through Global Scholars, its cutting-edge digital exchange program, public school students ages 10 to 13 communicate directly in e-classrooms with peers across the globe. Their posts, replies, and digital projects are primary texts for them to learn about other cities and perspectives, and how to solve the shared global issue they are studying. About the Position 

We are seeking a collaborative, motivated, and solutions-oriented graduate student intern to join our team as we continue to implement Global Scholars, evaluate the impact of this work, and share our findings with diverse audiences.  

Graduate student interns work as part of a dynamic and supportive team. The work is fast-paced and highly collaborative, requiring team meetings, small-group work, and independent activity. These are paid, part-time internships (15-18 hours/week). The internship begins on August 13, 2024 and continues through August 29, 2025. Only those with expected availability throughout this entire period should apply. A regular schedule of hours will be established.  

Key Responsibilities 

Graduate student interns support Global Scholars program implementation through the following core activities: 

  • Facilitate enrollment of educators and students 
  • Monitor student exchange in e-classroom discussion boards 
  • Analyze student work for evidence of Global Cities, Inc.’s student learning outcomes (https://www.globalcities.org/slo
  • Maintain the learning management system. 
  • Provide overall content and administrative support. 
  • Assist the Education Team with interactive videoconference professional development for educators worldwide. 
  • Work on additional research and data analysis projects to advance the organization’s mission. 

 Candidate Requirements 

  • Pursuing a graduate degree in international education or a related field  
  • Interest in international education, education technology, or international virtual exchange 
  • Experience, formal or informal, working with K-12 students. 
  • Excellent research, writing, data analysis, and organizational skills  
  • Facility with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and learning management systems (e.g., Schoology, Google Classroom) and comfort working across platforms. 
  • Ability to work as a part of a collaborative and high-achieving team in a fast-moving environment.

  • Availability to work August 13, 2024 – August 29, 2025 

 Location 

New York, NY. This position has a hybrid in-person (Monday – Thursday) and remote (Friday) schedule that is subject to change.  

Pay Range Per Hour: $20 

The referenced pay range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
