Westchester Parks Foundation engages the public to advocate for and invest in the preservation, conservation, use, and enjoyment of the 18,000 acres of parks, trails, and open spaces within the Westchester County Parks system.
Without the action of the Westchester Parks Foundation, beloved community programs would disappear, and a strong, independent advocate for parks would be silenced. Children would not gather at a camp to call their own, volunteers would be immobilized, and a dedicated investment in the future of our park system would cease.
Westchester Parks Foundation, in partnership with the Westchester County Parks Department, the Department of Social Services, and the Department of Community Mental Health, operates Camp Morty, a sleep-away camp. Campers come from foster care, live in homeless shelters, in child protective services, or otherwise receive services from Westchester County DSS to be eligible for Camp Morty.
We offer a quality outdoor traditional camp experience for underprivileged children residing in Westchester County. Our philosophy is to provide each camper with a unique opportunity for personal development, working with others and building confidence to succeed. Our number one goal is to create an exciting, fun-filled environment where children can feel safe, and where they can learn to educate the mind, body and spirit. We teach skills in a gentle, supportive way, and emphasize values such as concern for others, cooperation, sportsmanship and environmental awareness.
