The Broward Public Library Foundation

The Broward Public Library Foundation is a 501(c) 3 charitable organization committed to enhancing the collections, programs, and services of the Broward County Library system beyond the means of public funding.

Our nonprofit foundation is the catalyst in sparking private funding and endowments to ensure that a state of excellence is achieved throughout the county's family of libraries.

Founded in 1982, the Broward Public Library Foundation supports the Broward County Library division, named 2020 Library of the Year by the Florida Library Association. It is the largest library system in Florida by square footage and one of the busiest, with more than 7.5 million walk-in customers visiting its 38 locations annually and thousands of others accessing a wealth of free resources using e-technology.

An active board of directors oversees our 501(c)3 charitable Foundation, providing advice on fundraising initiatives, grantmaking, endowment investment, membership expansion, and program funding. Through the generosity of its donors, the Broward Public Library Foundation underwrites more than a dozen programs and services, including SAT/ACT Workshops for high school students, the Summer Learning Program, and a Workforce Ready program offering free check-out of laptop computers for job-seekers.
