Family Promise of Burlington County (FPBC) was founded to combat the problem of housing insecurity in our county. It was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1997 as Interfaith Hospitality Network of Burlington County. FPBC keeps families experiencing homelessness together while they are being sheltered, which minimizes the trauma of an already stressful situation. In the past, we have achieved this mission with the help of a network of faith communities throughout the county that hosted our clients several times per year by providing space in their buildings as well as a cadre of volunteers to provide shelter, food, and fellowship to our guest families. It was a cost-effective model and we successfully helped hundreds of families land back on their feet in stable housing.

The pandemic changed everything, and we were forced to shelter families in area hotels to protect the health and safety of our guests, our staff, and our volunteers. But this is an expensive and limited operating model that we don’t believe is sustainable. So, we are currently looking for our first static shelter site, where we can co-locate our housing operation with our staff and our volunteers. We are also expanding our menu of services to include other programs, all with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty that prevents families from achieving sustainable housing.

We do what we do because we believe that every child deserves a home.
