Umoja Debate Team is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are a youth debate team based in Detroit, MI. Using debate as our vehicle, we intend to give students ages 11-14 opportunities for self expression and critical thinking, while also emphasizing:
- The importance of teamwork
- Conflict resolution skills
- Confidence in public speaking
- Increasing Literacy: Becoming skilled readers, writers, speakers, listeners, and thinkers
