Breakthrough Sacramento is dedicated to closing the achievement gap that interferes with the academic success and future success of Sacramento's disadvantaged youth attending under-resourced schools. The students of Breakthrough are bright, excited, and motivated learners. They have a spark in their eyes and love to learn. As a Breakthrough student, they attend a rigorous 6-week summer program before 7th, 8th, and 9th grade, receive school-year tutoring to keep them on track, attend Super Saturday field trips for experiential learning, and receive college counseling while in high school.
Today BSAC actively serves approximately 200 motivated students in the greater Sacramento region.
100% of program youth graduate from High School
96% of program youth attend college
92% are first in their families to do so
68% of student teachers complete a degree in education
Breakthrough is fiscally sponsored (not financially sponsored) by the Foundation for California Community Colleges.
