Girls on the Run provides an after school character development program for girls in grades 3-8, offering two curricula for age-appropriate development lessons (elementary and middle school). The 10 week, twice a week, program meets for 1 hour and 15 minutes at various campus locations in Los Angeles. All volunteer coaches are trained, work as part of a team, and use a detailed curriculum.
No running experience or athletic level necessary to be a part of our programs! Girls on the Run is for every girl, no matter her size, shape, or fitness level -- and this is true for coaches too. Acting as a mentor, coaches guide the girls through lessons in taking good care of herself, being a good friend, and being a positive community member.
Coaches tell us all the time "I wish there was a program like this when I was a girl," and "I got as much out of Girls on the Run as the girls did -- these are messages we all need to remember about taking good care of ourselves."
