SMART Elections

OUR MISSION: We are transforming U.S. elections so they are secure, fair, accessible, well-administered and publicly verifiable. 

WHO WE ARE: SMART Elections is an innovative, non-partisan project that serves U.S. voters, advocates, election officials and the general public. We are identifying critical problems and motivating the public and officials to address them with secure, efficient systems. We want to ensure that U.S. elections are well-run, and that we can publicly verify that election results are correct. Our government will be more effective when it is selected in a fair, accurate, transparent, and inclusive process.

THE PROBLEM: All the issues we care about are impacted by our elections and public confidence in election results is currently low. Election security experts say that many U.S. voting machines are vulnerable; and some election officials are not following best practices for counting and auditing votes. If the U.S. does not improve its elections, we will continue to experience low participation, anger and mistrust of government, and paralysis in solving our most critical problems

OUR SOLUTION: We identify problems with our elections, then we use innovative, fun forums to educate the public and officials about recommended reforms. We work locally to educate, connect, and empower communities to improve their elections. We have educated thousands of advocates who watch our forums, attend our films, and interact with our website. Elected officials have taken note of our work and asked to collaborate with us. People are passionate and feel it's urgent that we make progress on this.
