Pro Bono Institute

The Pro Bono Institute is dedicated to increasing access to justice for the underprivileged by working to increase the participation of private law firms and legal departments in volunteer legal services (i.e., pro bono) and counseling the legal non-profit sector on how to best use these volunteer resources from the private bar. The Institute is mandated to explore and identify new approaches to -- and resources for -- the provision of legal services to the poor, disadvantaged, and other individuals or groups unable to secure legal assistance to address critical problems. In doing so, the Institute researches innovative programs and models. The Institute undertakes evaluation to insure that the proposals and methods identified are workable in the real world of legal services delivery. The Institute does not provide any direct representation nor does it make referrals for legal assistance.
