Volunteers are needed to provide in home and group community setting exercise programs to seniors. The SMART (Senior's Maintaining Active Roles Together) Program is designed for frail, isolated and high fall risk seniors. The goal of the program is to prevent falls and associated injury and hospitalization, as well as promoting independence and ability.

Volunteers visit with the senior's once per week for one hour. Days and times are flexible with a minimum 6 month comittment required from the volunteer.

Skills and Experience: No experience necessary, however an interest in senior citizens and health and fitness is useful.

Training Provided: All volunteers are given a two day training session covering topics such as senior health and welfare concerns, exercise and fitness and professional standards. In addition, volunteers are offered CPR and First Aid training at no cost to them! Benefits to Volunteer: Increase your knowledge in the areas of exercise and fitness. Gain valuable insight into senior's health concerns. Provide a senior with a friendly visit and socialization while performing the exercises. Obtain CPR and First Aid training at no cost. Make a difference in your community and the lives of the seniors you work with!
