While there is a vast network of nonprofit and governmental organizations in New York, there is no "first line of support" for new arrivals. Many individuals arrive in New York without the necessary contacts, language skills, or finances to navigate the complex network of city services. Since August 2022, at its peak, AAA received 500-700 new arrivals per day and linked them with food, clothing, as well as information to secure shelter, medical care, legal support, education, and employment. AAA has strong working relationships with the city, religious, and nonprofit leaders to connect new arrivals into their services. Currently, AAA receives 100-200 people per day requesting help to access city services and/or transport to other cities.
