Sobre Nós

University of Delaware’s College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) is a world-class institution within a dynamic Research I university, ranked in the top 1.3% around the globe. Led by an interdisciplinary faculty comprised of highly productive and influential scholars, we are committed to improving education and human development through cutting-edge research and practice.

We fully recognize the challenges that our education, family and social systems face in this new century. CEHD graduate students are trained to address these challenges in novel and authoritative ways that influence the educational dialogue around the world.

At its core, CEHD promotes diversity, inclusion and equity. Much of the research conducted by faculty confront and address inequitable outcomes in education and the community. The College is committed to play an important role in advancing policies and practices shown to elevate low-performing schools and implement supportive systems that benefit low-income and diverse families and communities.

We believe the most promising innovations come from interdisciplinary perspectives and want to ensure that the next generation of scholars benefits from interdisciplinary learning. Our faculty and students work with each other, with faculty from other disciplines and with research centers within CEHD as well as across the university. Centers in CEHD provide a key component to the effectiveness of our experiential and interdisciplinary learning, integrating service, research and education.

Graduate students are deeply engaged in research from day one, with opportunities to work with faculty conducting groundbreaking research designed to help children, adults and communities reach their full potential. In the past five years, CEHD faculty have been awarded nearly 50 grants over $500,000 each, many are nationally competitive grants from notable organizations including the Institute of Education Sciences, National Science Foundation, the Spencer Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

CEHD is made up of two academic units – the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS) and the School of Education.

·       HDFS offers an M.S. and Ph.D. program designed to prepare the next generation of scholars for positions as researchers, professors, or leaders in early childhood, human development, family studies, disability services, human services and related fields.
