Valley-wide locations! Pet Therapy Volunteer - Weekly one-hour commitment - Flexible schedule

We are a small Gilbert-based hospice looking for additional pet therapy support for our patients living in group homes or care communities throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. Our pet therapy program includes two beautiful dogs, but we'd like to brighten the day for more patients.

Here's where you (and your pet) would come in!

If you can spare one hour a week, we'd love to have you and your certified therapy pet join our volunteer program.

One of the great things about volunteering with us is that YOU set the schedule as long as it matches the patient's schedule. As a courtesy to our them though, we ask that once the schedule is set, it is a recurring weekly event they can look forward to.

What kinds of pets?

Most of our requests are for dogs, but if you have another type of therapy-certified animal and would like to help, please contact us!

Pet Requirements:

Your Pet will need to have valid and current pet therapy documentation from an accredited pet therapy program. They will also need up-to-date immunization records.

What our training program looks like:

Because this is hospice, there is a two-hour in-person classroom learning session for the human handler, along with an online training (with online test) that goes over more medically related topics like OSHA, PPE, and goes more in depth about HIPAA.

Other requirements for the human volunteer :

• Current Tuberculosis test - we can test in our office for free
• Current Driver's License
• Drug Screen - we do this in our office
• Background check
• The pet handler needs to be 18 or older

One hour each week is all we ask, but if you can give more, we'd be grateful for that too! We will try to match you with a patient who is close to where you are!
