POSITION: World AIDS Day Event Support

REPORTS TO: Health Services Outreach Manager

SCHEDULE: 12/1/2025 3:30 PM - 9:30 PM

COMMITMENT: One-time

LOCATION: University Ballroom, California State University, Sacramento

# OF POSITIONS: 6-10

SUMMARY:

The Sacramento LGBT Community Center, along with partnering organizations, annually hosts an event that remembers the lives lost to the epidemic, honors those living with the virus, and looks forward to a future free of new HIV infections. Volunteers support event setup/breakdown, hospitality, and event logistics, helping to ensure that attendees have a meaningful experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist with registration and check-in
2. Assist guests needing directions and prevent bottlenecks by ushering guests as they arrive and assisting with flow and capacity regulations
3. Monitoring guest needs and responding accordingly
4. Being ambassadors between community members who are guests and the World AIDS Day event staff

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Experience with crowd control and interacting with the general public is highly desirable
2. Ability to work independently with little instruction, as well as part of a team
3. Ability to adapt in fast-paced situations with shifting priorities
4. Experience using iPad/tablets (or the ability to learn on-site)
