Become a powerful voice in a child's life. Every 10 seconds a child in America is reported to be abused or neglected. A Court Appointed Special Advocate is a trained citizen (at least age 21) who is appointed by a judge to represent the best interests of a child in court. CASA volunteers are "ordinary" people who are committed to doing what is best for a child. Volunteers are trained in courtroom procedure, social services, the juvenile justice system, and the special needs of abused and neglected children. Volunteers from all cultures, professions, ethnic and educational backgrounds are welcome. For more information check http://www.cumberlandcountypa.gov/casa
