San Quentin SkunkWorks — an incarcerated-led innovation lab inside California’s most famous prison — is looking for a professional-level graphic designer to help us tell the story of justice reform through bold, intentional design.
Our work has been featured in CalMatters, The LA Times, Chess.com, and syndicated across half a dozen other outlets this year. Few design opportunities give you the chance to shape national conversations on justice — this is one of them.
The Role
Create compelling graphics for campaigns, reports, and events.
Collaborate with our communications team and incarcerated leaders to craft visuals that speak with power and authenticity.
Take on one project at a time, with clear scope and support.
Option to contribute remotely; Bay Area designers may also join sessions with team inside San Quentin.
Who You Are
A professional designer with a strong portfolio — looking to refresh, expand, or give it deeper meaning.
Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or equivalent tools.
Able to translate complex ideas into visuals that move people.
Collaborative, reliable, and open to working with a diverse cross-boundary team.
