Do you have a musical talent and the heart to make a difference in someone's day? We'd love to share your talent within our patient community!

Music has power to soothe, energize, bring back happy memories, and help us forget our troubles for a few moments. In this volunteer role, you would be playing music, primarily in care facilities and in common areas.

AdvisaCare Hospice cares for patients in different care settings in the East and West Valley. If you have a location preference, we can try to keep you focused within a certain area.

Many care communities have a piano, but some do not. You would need to bring your own instrument (we have a keyboard available beginning in September).

We are looking for a one hour weekly commitment, but if you have more time to give, that's great too!

We offer hospice training and support before introducing you to our patients and care communities.

What you will do:

Play music for our patient... and be a companion. What that generally looks like is playing music for 75% of the time, and talking with our patient for 25% of the visit. (Good conversations starters would be about the type of music they like or songs they'd like to hear. You will be building friendships!)

Requirements:

• Valid Arizona Driver's License
• You must be aged 17+
• A negative Tuberculosis test result (we can do this in our office)
• Background check
• Drug Screening
• Two-hour training class in our office located at Baseline and Gilbert
• Take home test and exercises corresponding to classroom training
• Ability to volunteer at least one hour each week
