Volunteers provide transportation to an older or disabled adult program participant, whom we refer to as "Neighbors." Our Neighbors are unable to drive and need help getting to their medical appointments. This is a very flexible opportunity as volunteers can choose as many, or as few, ride requests they would like to assist with.
We do request a minimum of two rides per month, but some of our volunteers travel for months at a time and that is fine, too. The Volunteer is a critical link between Aster and our homebound Neighbors. Volunteers work under the supervision of the Neighbors Program Coordinator who provides orientation and guidance as needed.
Volunteers must be at least 21, have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, a reliable vehicle registered and submit to a background check.
