Assistant Teacher, Outdoor Farm School

Our outdoor farm school is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to help lead our afternoon class. This is a unique opportunity to work with children in a hands-on, nature-based learning environment on a working farm.

Position Details:

Schedule: Wednesday, 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM and Fridays 8:30 AM- 12:30PM

Location: San Juan Capistrano, Ca

Additional Hours: There is potential for additional hours assisting with our afterschool program from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on other weekdays.

Responsibilities:

Support the lead teacher in managing a diverse group of students (ages 5-13) during daily farm activities and lessons.

Help facilitate hands-on learning, including animal care, gardening, and nature-based crafts.

Actively supervise students to ensure their safety and well-being in an outdoor setting.

Assist with classroom management, encouraging students to stay on task, listen, and participate respectfully.

Foster a positive, calm, and engaging learning atmosphere for all students.

Help with the setup and cleanup of daily activities and materials.

Provide one-on-one support for students as needed.

Qualifications:

Experience working with children in a classroom or camp setting is required.

A passion for nature, animals, and outdoor education is essential.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

Must be able to pass a background check.

CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
