Our Special Olympics Gymnastics program is growing and we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate volunteer to serve as a Boys/Men's Gymnastics Coach for our Special Olympics team. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about gymnastics, enjoys working with individuals of all abilities and wants to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
Responsibilties:
- Coach male athletes with intellectual disabilities in gymnastics fundamentals and routines
- Adapt instruction to meet individual athletes needs, skill levels and learning styles
- Promote teamwork, confidence and sportsmanship in a supportive environment
- Collaborate with other coaches and volunteers to organize practices and attend competitions
- Ensure safety and encourage physical and emotional growth of all athletes
Qualifications:
- Background in gymnastics (coaching, competitive, or recreational) preferred
- Patience, positivity, strong communication and problem solving skills
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful environment
- speaking with parents and caregivers
- Willingness to undergo Special Olympics training and background check
Time Commitment:
1-2 hours per Saturday (seasonal) with occasional meets or events
