The Kalamazoo County Poverty Reduction Initiative (PRI) is an organization established and led by multiple public, private and non-profit organizations. It is a catalyst that convenes human services organizations, business and community leaders and grassroots organizations to problem-solve issues of poverty that no one organization can address alone.
The PRI works to keep a consistent and data-driven poverty dialogue in front of the entire community, encouraging the continual acknowledgment of poverty within the community, as well as partnerships and collaborations that work together in addressing the systemic barriers that low-income residents face.
In the Past, we have helped develop, promote, and advocate for:
Affordable Housing Provisions,
Workforce Development Opportunities,
Life Insurance for Low-Income Residents,
Poverty Simulations for Business and Community Leaders,
the Earned Income Tax Credit,
State Children's Health Insurance Policy,
Nurse-Family Partnerships for Low-income Mothers,
Data-Driven Inter-agency Dialogues regarding Poverty Reduction.
