About us

WHO•ALLIED ARTS is:

  • an arts hub of information and activity
  • a catalyst for imaginative change in Yakima
  • creating memorable arts experiences for youth and families
  • making art and creativity part of your everyday life
  • vital to the imagination, vitality, and unity of the communities of the Yakima Valley

WHAT•ALLIED ARTS does:

1. PROVIDES ART EDUCATION

  • through programs like ArtsVan in the Parks (free art projects for kids & families), ESD 105's ArtFusion Artist-in-Residence (bringing artist-teachers into elementary school classrooms), artist visits like Morelia, Mexico's Javier Lopez Ortiz, eight Missoula Children's Theatre residencies (weeklong after-school drama programs), and 100s of art and drama classes annually—all taught by local artists

2. ENCOURAGES ART MAKING

  • through 8 art gallery exhibits annually, including the annual juried exhibit (est. 1967), monthly poetry open mike nights, & the annual juried poetry contest

3. CREATES ART EXPEREINCES IN YAKIMA

  • like thought-provoking lectures, the Latino Cultural Film Series, Outdoor Summer Cinema, and leadership of public art projects like the Millennium Arts Plaza, Art Walk, as well as the care of the Allied Arts Center-- 20,000 sq ft of renovated apple warehouse

HOW•ALLIED ARTS is funded:

YOU! through memberships, attendance at fundraising events, and annual giving. Special grants for our programs are awarded annually from a few sources, but we receive no federal, state or local operating funds.

Become a member for as low as $40/year (that's only $3/month!) or attend our two major fundraising events:

  • The Fresh Hop Ale Festival (est. 2003), (first Saturday of October, annually) honoring our region's hop heritage
  • The Laughing Ladies and Merry Men's Luncheon (est. 1997), banishing the winter blues (3rd Wed in January) through hilarious & uplifting performance

WHY? BECAUSE ART MATTERS.
