For nearly 40 years, Child Care Resource Center, a 501 (c)(3) organization, has been preparing children for life by helping their families obtain early education and care, and by training the providers of that care and education.
Founded in 1971, CCRC was the first child care resource and referral agency in Massachusetts and one of the first in the country. CCRC's Board of Directors has committed the agency to a comprehensive mission:
The Child Care Resource Center promotes the healthy development and well-being of young children. Because we believe the best way to help children thrive is by supporting the adults who care for them, we provide access to services and resources for families, offer training and professional development for early childhood educators and caregivers, and build community initiatives that benefit children and their families.
All CCRC programs target low- to moderate-income families and individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds for whom access to education, skills development, child care, and health care is critical to their well-being and economic success.
CCRC helps families meet their need for essential human services so they can provide a secure and stimulating home life for their children and find and afford quality early childhood education and out-of-school-time care when they go to work. CCRC offers families:
• Information and counseling about child development and quality child care and education.
• Access to childcare subsidies, subsidized health insurance, medical care, financial literacy education and other services.
• Opportunities to gain skills through workshops, support groups, and hands-on educational activities and literacy programs.
Training educators and child care professionals
The highest quality early education and care is provided by individuals who have higher levels of education and more specialized training in child development. CCRC helps educators to:
• Build their knowledge and skills to obtain and maintain employment.
• Gain advanced training and certification to build sustaining careers in the field.
• Improve the quality of education and support they provide for the children in their care.
Ultimately, our goal is to build a skilled workforce that contributes to improving the overall quality of care and education for children in our communities and prepares them for success in school.
Collaborating to build communities
We do all this in partnership with collaborating agencies, community groups, and corporate and foundation supporters, so that all parents in all the communities we serve, regardless of income, will be able to go to work with the peace of mind that comes from knowing their children are in good hands. Together we ensure that children grow up strong and healthy and that the adults who have chosen one of the most important jobs there is — caring for children — have the resources they need to do that critical job.
