Hope City Empowerment Center, Inc. (HCEC) is a community-based 501(c )(3 ) organization that provides empowerment and emergency food programs to individuals and families living in the Brooklyn neighborhoods of North Crown Heights, Clinton Hills, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Prospect Heights. The individuals and families that we serve come from diverse economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and range from the homeless, the "working poor", lower-income, lower middle-income, middle-income, the unemployed, the disabled, immigrants and the non-documented. We served 11,370 meals from our soup kitchen and distributed 6,309 food pantry orders during fiscal year July 2011 to June 2012.
We work to eliminate hunger and help people become self-sufficient through our youth, adult and senior programming, soup kitchen and food pantry.
H.C.E.C.'s principal mission is to, "compassionately love, serve and empower people to self-sufficiency." H.C.E.C. accomplishes its mission for individuals and families within its service communities by providing;
Wellness and empowerment services for self-sufficiency
Love and service to those less fortunate by empowering them with the tools needed to go forward and upward in life
Food Security to individuals and families through empowerment, education, advocacy and resource identification in order to eliminate hunger
