Description

The Louisiana Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (LCADP) is a grassroots coalition dedicated to achieving non-violent and effective alternatives to the death penalty. We recognize that Louisiana's death penalty is socially, racially and economically unjust. We believe that the state's limited resources should be channelled into local communities to prevent crime and better support families affected by murder.

Therefore, in advocating for alternatives to the death penalty, we are committed not only to working to end executions, but also to addressing the needs of:

  • Families of murder victims and other victims of crime;
  • Families of death row inmates;
  • Exonerees and the wrongly convicted who are still incarcerated, and their families;
  • The broader community in its response to crime.
