Project Enterprise (PE) provides business loans, training, and peer support to microentrepreneurs in New York City who live at or below the poverty level so that they can increase their incomes, build their assets, and improve the quality of their lives. PE's peer lending program is closely modeled after the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh. Since the inception of its microloan program in 1997, PE has lent more than $600,000 with only 8% written off. PE currently serves more than 300 active members in Central Harlem, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx.
