Sobre Nós

America has many beautiful and interesting places, but few can rival Michigan's historic and beautiful Manitou Passage. Found in the Leelanau Peninsula, Michigan's "little finger", vistas commonly encountered along the lakeshore are no less than phenomenal! Having once been heavily traveled as the most direct course for ships sailing between Buffalo and Chicago, the history and cultural traditions that evolved here are unsurpassed as fodder for tales of adventure and enchantment.

ManitouIslandsArchives.Org is an unincorporated privately funded nonprofit initiative, supported by contributions of licensed and public domain content from private individuals and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (NPS). Financial contributions are not solicited. The website is operated as an educational service to the public, thereby qualifying as a private foundation under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. The mission of ManitouIslandsArchives.Org is the preservation of materials relating to the history and cultural traditions of the Manitou Passage for the benefit of future generations, and for the enhancement of visitor experiences in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
