The online master’s program in climate change engineering and policy is designed to help current and aspiring environmental consultants and engineers, educators, and business professionals understand and respond to the sustainability needs of the public and private sectors, as well as advance their careers.


The interdisciplinary curriculum, developed by environmental science and engineering experts at GW, provides an in-depth look at the intersections of technology, environmental policy and business. Courses included in this master’s program explore sustainable energy, climate science, and economics, allowing students to gain the knowledge needed to address the effects of climate change, whether they have a technical background or not.


Throughout the program, students will gain environmental management expertise and develop solutions to real-world problems related to sustainability and climate change, and will learn to:

  • Identify and evaluate mitigation and adaptation responses to climate change
  • Assess climate change challenges facing society
  • Explain the source and nature of uncertainties in climate science
  • Apply engineering concepts in climate change and environmental policy
