  • Sobre Nós

Garden Rangers is a community-based idea that turns gardens into places where people can work, learn, and contribute to their community. Instead of community gardens being run mostly by volunteers, the model aims to create real jobs centered around caring for land, growing food, and supporting local neighborhoods. These roles are designed to be compassionate occupations—work that benefits both people and the environment—while giving participants meaningful purpose and hands-on experience.

A key focus is creating opportunities for young people who are not on the traditional college path but still deserve access to learning and career development. Through working in the gardens, participants can learn practical skills such as growing food, soil care, building garden infrastructure, food preparation, small-business operations, and teamwork. The garden becomes a kind of living classroom and apprenticeship space, where learning happens through doing rather than through formal academic systems.

The program sustains these jobs by producing value-added products from the garden’s harvest, such as sauces, pickles, dried herbs, teas, or other locally made goods. By selling these products through markets or community networks, the garden can generate income that helps pay the people who grow, prepare, and distribute them. In this way, Garden Rangers creates a small local economy rooted in stewardship, skill building, and community care.
